We have been awarded the Quality Award for demonstrating that we operate good practice in governance, community engagement and council improvement.
To achieve this award, we have demonstrated that we meet the minimum required standards for the Foundation Award. In addition, we have shown that we go above and beyond our legal obligations, effectively lead the communities in our parish, and are continuously seeking opportunities to improve and develop even further.
We are now working towards the Quality Gold Award.

Penlee Park has once again been awarded five stars in the Pride in Parks Award by South West in Bloom, one of eighteen competitions that make up RHS Britain in Bloom – the fourth year in a row!
To achieve this award, we had to meet several assessment criteria including the involvement of our local community; maintenance and development of the gardens; and commitment to maintaining things like park benches and limiting litter.
In January 2021, we became an Earth Protector Town – a global collaborative movement of towns to protect the earth!
As a Council we have committed to collaborate and cooperate with communities, other local government bodies, businesses and other organisations to protect land, wildlife, air soil, and water.
The Rural Market Town Group is a network of rural/market Town Councils that work together with the Rural Services Network to share best practice amongst our specific rural areas.
It is vital that rural areas have a strong voice to ensure that Government policy and decision making takes into account the specific needs and characteristics of rural communities and rural towns.
Penzance was voted as the best town in the UK and Ireland in the prestigious 2020 Urbanism Awards.
Judges praised the way the community has taken the lead in the regeneration of the town, both through the Penzance Neighbourhood Plan and transformational projects like the Jubilee Pool. We are delighted to receive this award which recognises the positive way in which all parts of the town are working together to regenerate Penzance.
