Devolution

Devolution is a wonderful opportunity for partnership working. It enables the community to have more control and investment in the town and its assets.

We are continuing to work closely with Cornwall Council and local community groups to take over the running of a wide range of local services in our parish.

Devolution will enable the local community to have more control and investment in the town and its assets.

Devolution so far:

In 2016 we took over the management of 6 public toilets in the town from Cornwall Council and have since invested £50,000 to improve the facilities.

We are also continuing to help subsidise the running of Jubilee Pool which was taken over in 2017 by Jubilee Pool Penzance Limited, a Community Benefit Society.

What next?

We are now planning to take on several new assets so that we can improve them for everyone to enjoy.

We have already taken steps to put funding in place for the next phase of projects so that work can begin as soon as the handover from Cornwall Council takes place.

The next planned phase will include us taking on the management of:
