Our current Mayor is Cllr Stephen Reynolds (Ward Councillor for Heamoor & Gulval).

The Mayor represents the town at Civic and community events, including visits to our twin towns. The Mayor also sits at all committee meetings.

The Mayor serves for one municipal year which runs from May – April. A new Mayor is appointed by elected Councillors at the Annual Town Council Meeting usually held every May at St John’s Hall which members of the public are invited to attend.

Town Clerk

Our current Town Clerk is James Hardy.

The Town Clerk is the Council’s senior official known as the ‘Proper Officer’. His main role is to advise the Council, ensure decisions are lawful and to implement those decisions. He also works closely with community partners and stakeholders on projects within the Parish.
