Book of Remembrance

Book of Remembrance

Acknowledging those who made the ultimate sacrifice – we will remember them

Original Book

For many years, a copy of the original Book of Remembrance was on display in the Chapel of the Memorial Garden in Penlee Park.

The book recorded the names of those from the town who had died in conflicts from the Second Boer War (1899-1902) up to the present day but the book was incomplete and had many errors.

Current Book

A new Book of Remembrance was researched by Major Bob Harrison in 2014.

The book gives a fuller record and takes into account the enlargement of Penzance Borough in 1934 to include Newlyn, Paul, Mousehole, Heamoor and Gulval.

The book is still not complete, but we hope that in time we will have a complete record to honour all those from our parish who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We would like to thank Major Harrison for his dedication and commitment to produce these records.

Where can I see the Book?

The book is on display in Penlee House Gallery & Museum and the Chapel of the Memorial Garden in Penlee Park.
