Thursday 2nd June

Proclamation Cry – various locations in the Parish

Our very own Town Crier will be taking part in the official Jubilee Proclamation Cry in the following locations:

2pm – Market House, Market Jew Street

2:30pm – Jubilee Pool

3:15pm – The Strand, Newlyn (opposite Co-Op)

4pm – Mousehole Harbour


Penzance Beacon LightingSt Mary’s Church

9:45pm

Penzance Council, in partnership with St Mary’s Church, will be providing an official royal beacon to be lit in the church yard by the Mayor of Penzance.

Mounts Bay Academy Choir will also be performing on the night!


Humphry Davy School Beacon Lighting

9:45pm

Penzance Council, in partnership with Humphry Davy School, will be providing an official royal beacon to be lit at the school.

Humphry Davy School Choir will also be performing on the night!


A Night at the Prom – Jubilee Pool

8pm – 10:30pm

To commemorate the Queen’s platinum jubilee, Jubilee Pool is inviting adults and children to spend a ‘Night at the Prom’ for an evening of live music and ceremonial beacon lighting

Newlyn Beacon Lighting – Newlyn Harbour

9:45pm

Penzance Council, in partnership with the Newlyn Pier & Harbour Commissioners, will be providing an official royal beacon to be lit at Newlyn Harbour.

The beacon will be located in the middle of the South Key. Members of the public are not permitted on the key. The beacon will be best viewed on the night from in front of the Newlyn Harbour Office.


Mousehole Beacon Lighting – Mousehole Harbour

9:45pm

Penzance Council, in partnership with the Mousehole Harbour Authority, will be providing an official royal beacon to be lit at Mousehole Harbour.


Friday 3rd June

Chapel Street Music Festival: Opening ‘Variety’ Concertthe Methodist Church, Chapel Street

7pm

The Chapel Street Ensemble, with Stella Pendrous (piano)

An extremely varied programme of music, with a Tango by Piazzolla rubbing shoulders with piano music by Chopin, jazz/blues by Gershwin.and much, much more!

Saturday 4th June

Platinum Communi-Tea Party – Morrab Gardens, Penzance

11am – 3pm

Organised by Penzance Council in partnership with Pengarth Day Centre and featuring performances by The Big Dance Company, Penzance Silver Band, Humphry Davy School and Pensans Morris.

As part of our commitment to celebrate our local area’s distinctive cultural identity, Cornish music and dance will be taking centre stage! Local students are working with dance instructors ahead of the event to learn traditional Cornish dances to fuse with modern dance styles for a very unique performance.

Everyone is invited to our flagship celebration event – a Platinum Communi-Tea Party – to celebrate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee!

Featuring live music and dance at the bandstand and a free cream tea & hot drink courtesy of Pengarth Day Centre (limited availability, first come first served). Traditional stalls by Mounts Bay Rotary Club and Penzance Rotary Club. Bring along a picnic and ‘get down for the crown’!


Jubilee Celebrations in Mousehole – The Solomon Browne Hall, Mousehole

11am-1pm

The community in Mousehole are set to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style with a special community performance created in collaboration with Miracle Theatre and the Solomon Browne Hall.

In a project funded by Cornwall Community Foundation, the Solomon Browne Hall and Miracle Theatre are offering local people the chance to create a celebratory storytelling event for local residents. Participants will work with a team from Miracle Theatre on performance, music and making to create an event to mark this special occasion.

Hall staff and volunteers are offering to transport elderly local residents to the event, to make sure that those who don’t often leave their house can go. The wider Mousehole community is invited to enjoy a street party outside the Hall.

Local musical duo Pensans will also be on hand to perform and there will be an exhibition of photographs of local celebrations and the Mousehole Carnival from years gone by from Mousehole Archive.


Platinum Party in the Park – Heamoor Field, Madron Road

2pm – 8pm

Organised by Heamoor Community Interest Organisation

A community party for all the family with bouncy castles, live music, bar, hot food, raffle, stalls, face painting and more!


Chapel Street Music Festival: Three Little Pigs’The Methodist Church, Chapel Street

Roald Dahl’s story, music by Paul Patterson

Two performances – 3pm and 4pm

Especially suitable for families and young children.

Chapel Street Music Festival: The Poznansky TrioThe Methodist Church, Chapel Street

The Big Dance Company with the Chapel Street Ensemble, will perform Roald Dahl’s funny, quirky version of the famous story, with dancing, act

Music for flute, cello and piano by Haydn, Brahms and Widor and the Cornish premiere of ‘The Planets’ by Mark Tanner, the trio’s pianist.

Sunday 5th June

Platinum Jubilee Big LunchPrincess May Recreation Ground

12noon – 3pm

Organised by Whole Again Communities in partnership with Treneere Team Spirit, and St Aubyn’s Estates

Bring along a plate of food to share with your neighbours! (Food will also be available to those who are unable to bring any)

Music and live dance performances by The Big Dance Company, bouncy castles, stalls and much more!


Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 50’s Street Party – Bolitho Road, Heamoor

1pm – 4pm

Everyone is invited to a Platinum Jubilee 50’s Street Party taking place on Bolitho Road in Heamoor (outside Heamoor RBL and the Scout Hall).

The Minack Theatre are performing The Kiss That Missed (suitable for 7yrs and up)

Karaoke and music, fun for all the family!

Please bring along a plate of food for all to enjoy! (If you have a special dietary need, please bring your own food)


The Pearls of Penzance – Penlee Open Air Theatre

Penlee Open Air Theatre are creating a platform for people of Penzance and surrounding areas to nominate someone in their community that inspires and creates positive change – The Pearls of Penzance

There will be a party for The Pearls at Penlee Park Open Air Theatre on June 5th to make a fuss of them with a fabulous Cornish cream tea.


Platinum Jubilee Social Classic Car Run – Penzance Prom

Estimated time of arrival in Penzance – 1pm

Organised by the Rotary Club of Bodmin and the Rotary Club of Penzance.

70 Classic Cars, one for each year of The Queen’s reign, will be traveling 70 miles from Bodmin to Penzance Promenade.


Mousehole Male Voice Choir – Outdoor Concert in Mousehole Harbour

Join Mousehole Male Voice Choir for an evening of music in Mousehole Harbour!


Chapel Street Music Festival: Closing Concert ‘The Full English’ – The Methodist Church, Chapel Street

7pm

The Chapel Street Ensemble present a varied programme of English music. Jonathan Dove’s toe-tapping Piano Quintet is followed by Finzi’s lyrical Bagatelles for clarinet and strings. The evening, and the Festival, finishes with Elgar’s brooding, majestic, and intensely expressive piano quintet.
