The Mayor of Penzance, Stephen Reynolds has given a Christmas message, thanking the hundreds of volunteers in the Parish.

In his message, the mayor said: “Now that we’re in the heart of the festive season, I’m reminded more than ever of the amazing community spirit, that’s alive and well in this wonderful place we call home.

“Whether it’s the volunteers who bring colour, cheer and crowds to our streets with Christmas lights and parades, or the volunteers who give up their own holidays to offer food and comfort to the vulnerable.

“There are just so many people in our midst who go the extra mile and give freely of their time and energy to support their fellow citizens.”

Cllr Stephen Reynolds continued: “So, however and wherever you are spending your own festive season, I invite you to join me in sparing a thought for the hundreds of volunteers who light up our community, literally, and metaphorically.”

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, the Mayor of Penzance added: “Nadelik Lowen, onen hag oll. Merry Christmas, one and all.”
