Who can stand?
To stand for election as a Councillor you need to be:
- British or a citizen of the Commonwealth or European Union
- At least 18 years old
- Registered to vote in the area or have lived, worked or owned property there for at least 12 months before an election
How to apply
First, you will need to contact the Deputy Returning Officer at Cornwall Council for nomination papers:

Second, you need to submit your nomination papers to the Deputy Returning Officer at County Hall, Truro on the following dates and times:
- 5 August
- 6 August
- 10 August
- 11 August
- 12 August
Between 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm
OR – you can submit your nomination papers to Penzance Library & Information Service at St John’s Hall on 9 August between 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm.
All nomination papers must submitted in person by 4pm on Thursday 12 August 2021.
Polling Day
If more than one nomination is submitted for the position, polling day will be Thursday 9 September 2021.

Applications to register to vote at this election close at midnight on Monday 23 August 2021
