A day-by-day list of road closures and restrictions in Penzance for Golowan 2026
Here is a day-by-day list of the road closures and restrictions planned for the Golowan Festival in Penzance which runs from Friday 19th to Sunday 28th June 2026.
IN SUMMARY: From Monday 22nd June to Monday 29th June there will be no through traffic from Ross Bridge to the Promenade junction with Queen Street. Traffic will be diverted via the A30. In addition, on Saturday 27th June, Market Jew Street and the main adjoining streets in the town centre will be closed to traffic.

Sunday 21st June
Feast of St John Civic Parade:
A rolling road closure will be in operation on Alverton Street, Market Place, The Greenmarket and Market Jew Street from 10:30am to 10:50am.
Monday 22nd June
Fun Fair:
Battery Road will be closed from Monday 22nd June from 00:00 – Monday 29th June at 11:00am for the fun fair. *Diversion via A30
Tuesday 23rd June
Fun Fair:
Battery Road will be closed from Monday 22nd June from 00:00 – Monday 29th June at 11:00am for the fun fair. *Diversion via A30
St Johns Eve Torch Lit Procession:
Chapel Street and Quay Street will be closed from 8:00pm to 11:59pm.
Wednesday 24th June
Fun Fair:
Battery Road will be closed from Monday 22nd June from 00:00 – Monday 29th June at 11:00am for the fun fair. *Diversion via A30
Thursday 25th June
Fun Fair:
Battery Road will be closed from Monday 22nd June from 00:00 – Monday 29th June at 11:00am for the fun fair. *Diversion via A30.
Friday 26th June – Mazey Eve
Fun Fair:
Battery Road will be closed from Monday 22nd June from 00:00 – Monday 29th June at 11:00am for the fun fair. *Diversion via A30.
Mazey Eve Fireworks:
Coinagehall Street, Quay Street, The Quay, Green Street, Dock Lane, Promenade, Battery Road, Wharf Road, Under Chapel Yard and Chapel Street will be closed from 8:00pm to 11:59pm.
A one way restriction will be imposed on Harbour Court, Access to Abbey Slip and Abbey Slip Penzance between the junctions of Chapel Street and Jennings Street in a north east to south westerly direction from 8:00pm to 11:59pm.
Saturday 27th June – Mazey Day
Mazey Day Parades:
Causewayhead, Alverton Street, The Greenmarket, Princes Street, New Street, Queens Square length, Market Jew Street, Clarence Street, Market Place, Parade Street, Chapel Street and Bread Street will be closed from 6:00am to 7:00pm. Albert Street and Station Road will be closed from 11:20am to 11:40 am, 1:20pm to 1:40pm and 3:20pm to 3:40pm. And Morrab Road between Alverton Street and Victoria Place will be closed between 10:00am to 4:00pm.
A one way restriction will be imposed on Harbour Court, Access to Abbey Slip and Abbey Slip Penzance between the junctions of Chapel Street and Jennings Street in a north east to south westerly direction from 7:00am to 7:00pm.

Sunday 28th June – Quay Fair Day
Quay Fair:
Coinagehall Street, Quay Street, The Quay, Green Street, Dock Lane, Promenade, Battery Road, Wharf Road, Under Chapel Yard, Chapel Street and The Promenade between Morrab Road and Alexandra Road will be closed from 7:00am to 7:00pm.
A one way restriction will be imposed on Harbour Court, Access to Abbey Slip and Abbey Slip Penzance between the junctions of Chapel Street and Jennings Street in a north east to south westerly direction from 7:00am to 7:00pm

Golowan Festival receives strategic funding from Penzance Council. This year we have provided £42,583 in funding to Golowan Festival (which includes funding for the Golowan Youth provision and the famous Mazey Eve fireworks!)
