The Met Office has issued an Amber Warning for very strong winds from Storm Austen, covering the South West – including the Penzance Parish – from 01:00 until 10:00 on Friday 23 October 2026.
The storm is expected to bring a spell of very strong winds and heavy rain across southern areas of the UK late on Thursday and into Friday, with the greatest risk of disruption across southwest England. Gusts could reach 60-70mph in some places.
