Penzance Council are funding the PZ Kids Swim Free at Jubilee Pool and we’ve been getting lots of questions so here are the answers to your top FAQs
Where do you have to live to be eligible?
The free pass is currently only available to under16s living in the Parish of Penzance, this includes:
- Penzance town
- Newlyn
- Mousehole
- Paul village
- Heamoor
- Gulval
- Eastern Green
It is not just purely based on postcodes, it’s about whether you live within the parish boundary of Penzance Council – the easiest way to check if you live in the parish is to look at your Council Tax Bill to see whether Penzance Town Council is listed in the services breakdown.
Why is the scheme currently only open to people who live in Penzance?
Part of the council tax Penzance Parish residents pay to Penzance Council goes into funding this scheme.
People living in the wider Penwith area (including Long Rock, Madron and Marazion) pay council tax to their own Parish/Town Councils which doesn’t fund services in Penzance.
Will you be extending the scheme for residents who don’t live in the Parish of Penzance?
We will be approaching our neighbouring Parish/Town Councils to ask them to consider providing funds for free access to the Jubilee Pool for the under 16s in their parishes.
If you would like to see the scheme extended, please contact your Town/Parish Council and tell them! (You can find out who your Town/Parish Council is on your Council Tax Bill)
