At our Finance & General Purposes Committee meeting last week, Councillors unanimously voted to award over £2,000 in grant funding to local community organisations

Which groups have been awarded funding?
At our Finance & General Purposes Committee meeting on Monday 21 August 2023, Councillors voted to award £2,202.86 in grant funding to local community organisations:
- Heamoor Community Interest Organisation – £950
- Devon & Cornwall Community Watch Association – £750
- Earth’s Green Guardians (EGG) – £502.86
How will the funding be used?
Heamoor Community Interest Organisation
Our funding to Heamoor Community Interest Organisation will help them to put on and expand the Christmas Lights in Heamoor village. They are planning to expand their lighting display to another area of the village this year and make the light switch-on a bigger event for the whole community to enjoy!
Devon & Cornwall Community Watch Association
Our funding to Devon & Cornwall Community Watch Association will help them to launch a new initiative – the Feel Safe Scheme. The scheme aims to help people feel safer in their own homes, especially anyone who has either become, or is at risk of becoming, a victim of crime or anti-social behaviour.
Anyone can refer someone they believe would benefit from having small works done to their property to make it safer and more secure.
Earth’s Green Guardians (EGG)
Our funding to Earth’s Green Guardians (EGG) will be used to purchase outdoor rain gear and wellies for students aged 7-12 to enable them to get out and about in nature in all weathers over the upcoming Autumn and Winter months and keep their school uniforms clean!
