What work is taking place and when?
The works will include installing:
- new footpaths and crossing points
- creating a pedestrianised area on the old bridge on Jack Lane with planters and benches (removable bollards will also be installed on the bridge to allow emergency vehicles access when needed)
Plans of works:
Phased works will take place over the following dates:
- Phase 1 (20 April – 13 May): Four-Way traffic lights at The Coombe Crossroads to install a new footpath
- Phase 2 (14 – 21 May): Two-way traffic lights on New Road to install a new pedestrian crossing point
- Phase 3 (1-12 June): Two-way traffic lights near the war memorial and on Creeping Lane to create the pedestrian area on the bridge
- Phase 4 (15 – 22 June): Two-way traffic lights on The Strand near the China Garden Takeaway and The Star Inn to install an extension to the footpath
Please note: the schedule may be subject to change once works begin.
