Could you be the town’s next Bugler?
Penzance Council has an opportunity for someone to take on the role of Bugler for the town!
The town’s long-standing bugler has retired after 61 years, a duty he performed with great dedication and respect. Mr Graham Martin, of the West Cornwall Light Infantry Association, started playing The Last Post at Remembrance events in Penzance at the age of 10 and never missed a year in all that time. “It’s important for every generation to remember their sacrifice which gave us our freedoms today” he said at the town’s VJ Day 75 commemorations in 2020.
The Council are very sorry to lose him but wish him well in his well-earned retirement!

What does the role involve?
- Playing The Last Post at Remembrance events in Penzance (on 11th November and on Remembrance Sunday) each year.
Reimbursement
The post of Bugler is voluntary, but we will pay a fee of £25 for each event attended.
