As part of the national celebrations, there are lots of events being planned for the Penzance Parish to mark the coronation of HM The King!
Penzance Council are pleased to announce it will be hosting a ‘Coronation Celebration’ on Sunday 7 May in Morrab Gardens from 10:30am – 3pm which will form part of the Coronation Big Lunch taking place across the country to celebrate HM The King’s Coronation.
Organised in partnership with Pengarth Day Centre, the event will feature a variety of live music and dance performances from Humphry Davy School, Penzance Silver Band, Dawn Chorus & Levow an Bys, and Penzance Choral Society.
The afternoon will see the bandstand taken over as a youth stage by Qube Records (the in-house record label of Mounts Bay Academy) for local youngsters to showcase their talent and will feature local bands: Oceantown, Reuben & The Squires, Guilty Conscience and the Qube Records Collective!
Entry is free with complimentary cream tea and hot drink provided by Pengarth Day Centre (first come, first served – please collect your ticket from the bandstand on the day).
There will also be a traditional summer fete around the water fountain with stalls, games, face painting and activities with Penlee House Gallery & Museum, Food for Families CIC and much more – the Penzance Coronation Celebration will provide something for everyone to celebrate this historic occasion!
The Town Crier will also be making an appearance with the Mayor of Penzance to make a special Coronation Cry!
Penzance Council have also created a page on our website for events taking place around the Parish (including Newlyn, Mousehole, Paul, Heamoor, Gulval, Eastern Green) over the special extended bank holiday weekend Saturday 6 – Monday 8 May 2023 (and beyond): King’s Coronation Events in Penzance
