Town Centre Shops Opening 15th June

Published: 15th June 2020 in category: Uncategorised

‘Town Centre leaders deserve credit as shops open next week!’ says Derek Thomas.

Since the Government announced that shops selling non-essential items could reopen on June 15th, local leaders have been busy ensuring that our town centres in particular can open safely and that social distancing can be observed.

Having worked closely with the Business Improvement District managers in both St. Ives and Penzance, MP Derek Thomas posted on his Facebook page ‘I can not speak highly enough of how seriously they have taken this task and of the collaborative way that BIDs and town councils have navigated the challenge. The pragmatic approach that will see traffic reduced, clear direction to shoppers and, in some cases, one way pedestrian traffic will reassure those who are concerned whilst helping our small retailers to rebuild their livelihoods.’

‘Opening shops can be done safely and I know how much people who have been isolated for so long will appreciate the opportunity to visit our towns’ said Derek Thomas MP.
