2nd March 2023 in Environment, Penlee Park, Services

Tree works will be taking place in the Penlee Play Park area from Monday next week

Please ensure you follow any diversion signs in the Park and stay well clear of our contractors who will be in high-vis clothing.

We thank you in advance for your patience as we carry out this essential work to ensure everyone can continue to enjoy Penlee Park safely.

Autumn trees in Penlee Park

Where will the works be carried out?

*9 March UPDATE* – the works have finished early so the play park has now re-opened!

*7 March UPDATE* – the play park will remain closed all week

A holm oak tree near the Penlee Play Park will be felled next week (w/c 6 March) and the play area will be closed 8am-4pm daily. Scaffolding will be in place around the tree during the day and removed for the evening.

Why is the tree being cut down?

All of our trees are assessed on a regular basis by a professional arborist in what’s called a Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA). The last inspection found no immediate danger to the public but the tree is decayed and it was recommended to fell it to ensure the play park remains safe for children and families to enjoy.
